Developing a Website for a Business Coach and Speaker

Currently, I’m in phase one of designing a website for Teej, a business coach and speaker, using WordPress. The goal is to create a site that showcases her expertise, connects with her target audience, and highlights her services. Here’s a look at the steps involved in this process so far.

Step 1: Installing and Customizing the Theme

We started by selecting and installing a WordPress theme that has a modern, professional feel. Since Teej’s website needs to engage her audience quickly, we opted for a parallax design that allows visitors to find essential information on the homepage without needing to navigate to multiple pages.

Step 2: Homepage Setup

The homepage is designed to function as a one-stop resource. We’ve included:

  • Opt-in form: Placed at the top for easy visibility, encouraging visitors to subscribe to her newsletter or book a consultation.
  • Navigation bar: Ensuring clear access to other key areas of the site, like her About and Services pages.
  • Introduction photo and bio: A professional photo of Teej along with a brief introduction explaining how she helps clients achieve success.
  • Services section: An overview of the services she offers to give potential clients a quick glimpse of what’s available.
  • Testimonials: Featuring client feedback to build trust and credibility.
  • Companies she’s worked with: A section to showcase her impressive background and collaborations.
  • Contact information: Easy-to-find contact details for clients who want to take the next step.

This parallax homepage provides all the information a visitor would need to get a full understanding of who Teej is and how she can help.

Research on the general impact of well-designed websites with parallax scrolling offers some valuable insights into how such websites can influence return on investment (ROI). Here’s how a parallax website can enhance a business coach’s ROI:

1. Increased User Engagement

  • Stat: A study by HubSpot shows that websites with interactive elements like parallax scrolling can increase user engagement by up to 70%.
    • Impact: The parallax design keeps visitors on the site longer by providing an engaging user experience. For business coaches, this means more potential clients will stay on the site to learn about services, increasing the chances of conversion.

2. Improved Conversion Rates

  • Stat: According to a report by Adobe, 38% of users will stop engaging with a site if the layout or content is unattractive. Well-designed, interactive parallax websites have been found to reduce bounce rates and improve conversion by as much as 10-15% in service-based industries.
    • Impact: For business coaches, providing a clear value proposition and using design elements like testimonials and a service overview on a single page increases trust, which leads to higher opt-in rates for email lists or consultation bookings.

3. Enhanced Brand Perception

  • Stat: A report from Blue Corona notes that 48% of people say a website’s design is the number one factor in determining the credibility of a business.
    • Impact: For business coaches, having a polished, professional, parallax website builds credibility and trust with potential clients, making them more likely to invest in coaching services, leading to higher ROI over time.

4. SEO Benefits and Traffic Increase

  • Stat: Moz reports that websites that keep visitors engaged (as parallax designs do) have longer session durations, which contributes to improved search engine rankings. Pages with interactive design are more likely to achieve higher SEO rankings, boosting organic traffic by 5-20%.
    • Impact: As a business coach, driving more traffic to your site without extra advertising costs can lead to a larger audience, increasing the chances of converting visitors into paying clients, improving ROI.

5. Mobile Responsiveness and Conversion

  • Stat: Google’s research shows that 53% of mobile visitors leave a website that takes longer than 3 seconds to load. Parallax designs that are mobile-responsive lead to 40-60% better retention of mobile users.
    • Impact: Given that mobile traffic now makes up a large portion of web visits, a responsive parallax website helps business coaches reach more potential clients, increasing overall conversions and revenue.

Step 3: Reviewing Content, Images, and Design

The next phase will involve meeting with Teej to go over the content and images for the site. We’ll refine the design for each page, ensuring that the messaging aligns with her brand, and every element works cohesively. It’s important to ensure her voice shines through and that the visuals are professional yet approachable.
